Practical Ideas for Teaching "Subtraction as Difference" in Year 3?!?!

Discussion in 'Trainee and student teachers' started by missohsobrilliant, Jan 17, 2012.

  1. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - having a real memory block here! Something that could be easily differentiated would be useful too. Many Thanks.
  2. Hi there!
Did you ever get any answers to this? I too am looking for a fresh, exciting idea to teach subtraction as difference...
  3. Get them to measure their arms, legs, heights etc or things around the classroom. Then they have to compare their measurements - what's the difference between your height and Johnny's height? Kids seem to love measuring things.
