The Bank holidays have absolutely no impact on the length of school terms.
The school year is made up of 190 pupil days and 5 INSET days. This year, pupils get 189 days because of the royal wedding.
PPA remains obligatory for the entire school year, which is only one day shorter than in any other year.
Get your Union involved.
Quite frankly this is outrageous!
Teachers are entitled to a minimum of 10% of timetabled teaching time as PPA. It must be given in blocks of no less than 30 mins. The (non statutory) guidance is that it is given in no more than fortnightly allocations ie teachers cannot go more than 2 weeks without any PPA.
Unless the staff have agreed some arrangement whereby PPA will be made up after half term etc. I suggest you contact your unions at once and get them to talk sense to the school.
