PPA cover with a catch...

I've just started working in a school doing ppa cover five days a week. Nice school friendly staff etc. I'm getting a bit miffed however as they seem to assume I can just cover clubs until 4:15 and now they are suggesting I need to plan music lessons which I primarily cover. I thought ppa teachers just covered lessons and that was it? Anyone got any experience of this?

I feel like just because I'm there five days doesn't mean I'm an employee.

My supply agency once told me about a PPA job. I turned it down once they explained that I would be expected to plan lessons.

Are you employed directly or through an agency?

If it's with an agency you would need to discuss it with them. If they're expecting effectively a full teaching workload you should be paid accordingly. If not, leave.
