Post threshold responsibilities

  1. Passed the threshold many years ago but have heard recently that we 'need' to accept responsibilities as part of our threshold level. The NASUWT at: http://www.nasuwt.org.uk/consum/groups/public/@salariespensionsconditions/documents/nas_download/nasuwt_005516.pdf says this is not true. Is this correct?

    Ask your school for the section of stpcd which says you must have extra responsibilities. They won't find it. Union info is correct

    always good advice, although the union has this one absolutely right and the school is wrong, as well as stupid to try and require experienced teachers to do what they could probably easily have been requested/persuaded to do.

    The whole point about Threshold was that it was a way for ordinary classroom teachers to be paid more for their experience without having to take promotion posts that tokk themmore and more out of the classroom.
    You are paid UPS1 etc for having proved that you met (past tense) the 10 Post Threshold Standardss in the 2 years up to and including M6 pay year (or later years if you delayed applying for Threshold). Having met those standards, you are deemed worthy of the enhanced pay and there are no strings attached. You just carry on delivering the enhanced working practices that got you on the Upper Pay Spine in the first place.
    Extra responsibilities, that are not part of your current contract, should come with a TLR.
