    Hi,
I want my class to do reflecting and identofy the good/not so good things that have happened in that week. I was thinking of palying some inspiring music to make themselves feel proud of themselves and encourage thinking.
there is m people of course- any other ideas?

How about Labi Siffre "Something Inside so Strong"?

The higher you build your barriers
    The taller I become
The farther you take my rights away
    The faster I will run
    You can deny me
You can decide to turn your face away
    No matter, cos there's....

    Something inside so strong
I know that I can make it
Tho' you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone
Oh no, something inside so strong
Oh oh oh oh oh something inside so strong

The more you refuse to hear my voice
    The louder I will sing
You hide behind walls of Jericho
    Your lies will come tumbling
    Deny my place in time
    You squander wealth that's mine
My light will shine so brightly
    It will blind you
    Cos there's......
    etc

Amazing suggestions so far! Love them all! I would also like to add Des'ree's "You gotta Be..." and "Lean on me..." by Bill Withers into the mix.

  7. Love all the suggestions and might have download to my ipod because I lack feel good music!

    What year group are they?

If year 6, maybe use 'You're a superstar' as it is feel good and reflective.

    Yeah, uh, uh
    Yeah
    It's the world's greatest
    It's the world's greatest
    C'mon, yeah
    The world's greatest

I am a mountain, I am a tall tree, oh
I am a swift wind sweepin' the country
I am a river down in the valley, oh
I am a vision and I can see clearly

If anybody asks you who I am
    Just stand up tall
Look 'em in the face and say

I'm that star up in the sky
I'm that mountain peak up high
    Hey, I made it
    I'm the world's greatest
And I'm that little bit of hope
When my back's against the ropes
    I can feel it
    I'm the world's greatest

    (The world's greatest, yo)
    (The world's greatest ever)

I am a giant, I am an eagle, oh
I am a lion, down in the jungle
I am a marchin' band, I am the people, oh
    I am a helping hand, I am a hero

If anybody asks you who I am
    Just stand up tall
Look 'em in the face and say

I'm that star up in the sky
I'm that mountain peak up high
    Hey, I made it
    I'm the world's greatest
And I'm that little bit of hope
When my back's against the ropes
    I can feel it
    I'm the world's greatest

In the ring of life I'll reign love
And the world will notice a king
When all is darkest, I'll shine a light
And use a success you'll find in me

I'm that star up in the sky
I'm that mountain peak up high
    Hey, I made it
    I'm the world's greatest
And I'm that little bit of hope
When my back's against the ropes
    I can feel it
    I'm the world's greatest

I'm that star up in the sky
I'm that mountain peak up high
    Hey, I made it
    I'm the world's greatest
And I'm that little bit of hope
When my back's against the ropes
    I can feel it
    I'm the world's greatest

I'm that star up in the sky
I'm that mountain peak up high
    Hey, I made it
    I'm the world's greatest
And I'm that little bit of hope
When my back's against the ropes
    I can feel it
    I'm the world's greatest

    1 - It's the greatest
    Can you feel it
    It's the greatest
    Can you feel it

    Repeat 1 while:
    I saw the light
At the end of a tunnel
Believe in the pot of gold
At the end of the rainbow
    And faith was right there
    To pull me through, yeah
    Used to be locked doors
Now I can just walk on through
    Hey, uh, hey, hey, hey
    It's the greatest
I'm that star up in the sky

I'm that star up in the sky
I'm that mountain peak up high
    Hey, I made it
    I'm the world's greatest
And I'm that little bit of hope
When my back's against the ropes
    I can feel it
    I'm the world's greatest

This was in the original post:
I wonder how many of those who then went on to recommend it have ever told their classes to read the question properly before writing an answer [IMG]

    Ooh, I'm embarrassed now, Takfam!
In my defence, though, the OP didn't use capital letters, so I didn't notice that the name of the group was there!

Good call, how about a Gary Glitter tune too?

  13. Take That - Shine
S Club 7 - Reach for the Stars

yes - I'm indoctrinating my class to cheesy music :) (we're also fans of S Club Juniors - One Step Closer and Steps - 5,6,7,8, but they don't fufil the OP's category!)

    giggle xx

Does playing Steps in the classroom not come under one of the GTC's rules of misconduct?

  15. I'd think it broke torture laws myself personally!
Leavers at a school I was at did Shine by Take That which worked quite well - and you can never quite get enough of Take That really.

  16. I hope not :D I make the whole of KS2 dance to it in our Wake Up Shake Up time. They even choose it over other, more modern songs! :)
