    Dismiss Notice

policy on pre interview visits

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by janmartin2702, May 2, 2012.

  1. Can your current school say it is inconvenient and stop you from attending a pre school visit, or do they have to allow you to go? I haven't asked yet, but my line manager is quite awkward and may possibly raise objections, so I would like to know where I stand first.

Yes, I'm afraid that they can.

You have no right to take time off work for visits, although if you can fit it in your PPA time you are more likely to get permission.

Many schools take the view - which is very logical - that you are paid to be teaching your class, so while they of course release you for an actual interview, going to a visit is of lesser priority than ensuring the learning and progress of your pupils.

    Best wishes
