Poetry Year 5 Please Help!!

Discussion in 'English' started by LouiseCole86, May 21, 2011.

  1. Hi all,
I am planning to teach a literacy lesson to Year 5 (being observed) focussing on comic and dramatic effect in poetry.
I have planned to find a funny poem and a more dramatic emotive poem sharing a common theme (i.e. a particular animal, monsters, weather etc) and then compare the 2.
Have searched the internet for long hours without much luck and was wondering if anyone had already taught a similar thing or knew of any poems that would work?
Any advice is welcome an would be gratefully received.
    Many thanks,
    Lou :)

  3. Hi Lou,

I'm a senior school teacher but planned a scheme of work for my friend teaching year 6 on Charlie and the Chocolate factory and did some cool things on Augustus Gloop for poetry. Could be adapted. If you'd like the power point and resources mail me on laura.sutherland101@hotmail.com
