    Starter –
revision of simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia and alliteration

    Recap on what they mean.

Say they can write S, M O or A on their whiteboards when I
give an example of a poetry technique.

Give examples of each, pupils to show on their whiteboards,
discuss why they think that if different answers come up (esp the metaphors)

    Main – Read the
poem ‘The magic of the brain’ first without pupils seeing it and get them to
explain what they imagined. (no right or wrong answer)

Then display the poem, what can we see?

    GW – I will
work with a group and we will discuss the poem in detail, saying what poetry
    techniques we can see.

MAin - fill in spider diagram for one sense, what would they describe, whats it like, how it makes me feel

These are my ideas so far, need to think of a range of questions and what my SEN pupils (at level1) will be doing and include my TA.

let me know what you think
