I am just starting my first job after christmas. Just wondering how it normally works. I have been given the topic names for science, history and geography, the PE sport we are doing and the book we are studying in English and no planning at all and then I'm left to it.
Is this normal? Did you get any support/help? I just feel a little overwelmed by it all.

The school will probably have rough curriculum planning on their shared drive - ring them up for a 1:1 with the currently class teacher, to help with handover. You can get details on behaviour, seating plans, assessment info and (on your USB stick) a copy of any rough planning for next term that is already in place. Good luck!

Al check with the National Curriculum guidance to ensure you are covering the main topics. The quality of planning in schools varies. You need to be clear about what you are expected to teach and what happens in your classroom is your responsibility to organise
