Planning literacy without the framework - help!

  1. When MT planning I try to make sure that every Half term has some non fiction, some fiction, and some poetry. I know what genres haven't been covered recently ( i.e. instructions), So I rotate the genres. I teach whatever word/sentence level work that goes best with that genre. I spend 2 weeks working up to big write doing:
    * Looking at good examples of the genre;
    * possibly doing some drama
    * word/sentence level work (linked to genre if pos);
    * showing chn my own attempt atwhat they are going to be doing and analysing it;
    * Chn planning their own;
    * then Big Write;
    * then some editing and improving if appropriate.
    In all of this I try to put in as much speaking and listening as possible.
