Slough, like Wisbech, has a high proportion of immigrants (39% born outside the UK). I'll say no more.

I wonder when Betjeman wrote "Come, friendly bombs, and fall on Slough!" - just before the war I guess.

Bury, famous for its market (if you like shoddy produce thats overpriced) and its "traditional black puddings that are disgusting and not even made the "traditional" way! Bury? They should!
Doesn't look that bad actually.
Runcorn - used to be one of the most polluted places in England thanks to the ICI plant.
Manea - or Mania as everyone calls it.
In fairness, @peakster I didn't say Manea was lovely, just that you could see the earth wasn't flat from there.
I would have nominated this town in Derbyshire until I saw the news...
That's right. It was a protest against the way that modern life and work had disfigured the town - in particular the need to build huge housing estates and hundreds of factories for an ever increasing population. Nevertheless, I don't think we should be disparaging about the places where many immigrants to this country have to live.
Lots of people (incl some posters) are often disparaging about London.
