Pig iron and correlation

Discussion in 'Mathematics' started by marcopront, May 11, 2011.

  1. I remember reading about two sets of data which had almost perfect correlation. One was production of pig iron and I couldn't remember the other.
A quick google search suggests it is production of pig iron in the UK and live births in the US but I can't find the actual data.
    Does this ring any bells?
    Thanks.

Comments at the end of this (short) article ring those bells. There's a nice cartoon as well which by coincidence is on the front of one the T-shirts of my son-in-law.
