Physics PGCE Interview Birmingham

Discussion in 'Secondary' started by baxter84, Aug 15, 2011.

  1. Hi everyone!

I am new to this so sorry if I have posted incorrectly :)

I have a interview for secondary science PGCE Physics at Birmingham on friday and I am terrified! I have a presentation to do which I have prepared and finished but the letter states I have written task and I have no idea what to expect? Has anyone recently had a interview with them?

I am undertaking the SKE year as my degree is in nursing. Will they be asking Physics questions or it is something completely different like current issues in regards to secondary education or the science curriculum?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! xx

  3. Hiya i had an interview at bham for a different subject and dont fret its not that bad our presentation was only 5 min long on a current issue in schools and then the written piece really easy you are left in the room for a while with the other candidates they just need to k ow you have a grasp of english and can write properly :) as for the interview they didnt really ask much it was quite different they kind of just said ok so tell us what you have done so far that makes teaching the right career for you .. So as long as you are clear on this be confident and you should be fine . Good luck

  5. did you have an Interview? I have one tomorrow and not sure what to expect! This is what i received today...

The selection process on this day will be an interview lasting approximately thirty minutes. The interview panel will ask you nine longer answer questions and some administration questions and then there will be an opportunity for you to ask questions. The purpose of this interview is to find out more about you and your motivation for wanting to teach in your specialist subject area. One of the questions will be based on the OCR GCSE Physics A specification. You must ensure that you have read the specification prior to interview, please find the specification attached. One of the longer answer questions will focus on current educational issues, therefore it is important that you have familiarised yourself with at least two prior to the interview.

The formal interview panel will be made up of one subject specialist, two of the SCITT Directors and one representative from the School Direct School.
