Phonics Sounds from Letters and Sounds

Discussion in 'Primary' started by bob3214, Feb 7, 2012.

  1. Does anyone know of a video clip or website where a person is reading out all the sounds that go with the letters and sounds program? This is so we can ensure all the staff in our school are following the same way of the saying the sounds.

    Thanks

  3. Is that the name of your program (Letters and Sounds)? We use that in our school and there is a CD that comes with the books that teaches you how to sound them all out. Don't know if you can still get hold of the packs but they came from the department for education and skills. The reference number is 00281-2007FLR-EN. Phone number on the back of the pack is 0845 6022260 or email is dfes@prolog.uk.com. HTH x

  4. Just about any website that promotes a synthetic phonics programme is likely to have a set of sound files or videos which demonstrate the correct sounding of the phonemes of English. Try Jolly Learning, or, Phonics International - I know they both have them.
Don't think that the phonemes of English are in any way unique to Letters & Sounds! They are exactly the same whichever programme you use[IMG].

as recommended to Ofsted inspectors learning about phonics (search for 'Getting them reading early' - an interesting document).
