I have studied PGCE specialising in maths for post 16 years. I have the option to continue with QTLS as I favour maths this sounds good options. However, recently I have been thinking of teaching primary, I know I need additional qualifications to what I have but should I continue with QTLS then look at others?

What interests you about teaching primary?

As you don't have QTS or QTLS I would have thought you could apply for a PGCE with QTS

    Thanks for your reply
I am completing my PGCE and they have given us the option to do QTLS free only. However, i know if i want to teach primary i need QTS.

QTLS is recognised as equivalent to QTS however you will struggle to show you can teach primary effectively with just experience in teaching FE. How could you show you know how to teach phonics in year 1 for example?

Does the place you are doing your pgce do primary?

My PGCE is post 14 but I have worked abroad teaching primary school English as foreign language, so do have experience teaching younger students although it will be different.
