PGCE Modern Language Interview - Institute of Education IOE

Discussion in 'Thinking of teaching' started by adrianmoore84, Feb 29, 2012.

  1. I have an interview for PGCE Modern Languages at IOE. Does anybody have any experience of what is expected when testing your foreign language skills at interview?

I have been offered a place at Oxford. No clue if it was the same - but I had to write a piece in one of my languages in why I wanted to be a teacher, and comment on an (English) newspaper article in the other language. The article was about language teaching in English schools. I had 45 minutes to write both pieces, which had to be a side of A4. During the interview we had a bit of a chat in each language - the conversation started with 'tell me about your most recent trip to xxx' - and off it went. IOE might be different, but if you get no other answers then perhaps mine will be helpful.
