PGCE Interview at UWIC- Secondary Science and Biology

Discussion in 'Science' started by Chleva, Jun 16, 2011.

  1. Hi,
I had an e-mail yesturday to tell me I have been invited to an interview on Wednesday. I have been looking at the NC and some other stuff but have a 5 minute oral presentation on 'Discuss the challenges of Science education in the 21st century'.
If anyone has any information on this or any useful tips for me that would be much appreciated. This is my first ever interview and I am starting to panic!!
    Please HELP!
    Thanks[IMG]

  2. areas to present on might include

1- misconceptions of pupils understanding due to 'bad science' in the media. e.g. MMR, stem cells, cloning.

2- misconceptions due to internet acceess- wiki answers etc

3- incorporating new technologies into teaching - many pupils see more "exciting" demonstrations of science on TV that we arent able (Health and safety) or capable (resources) of doing.
