An employer has decided to look into my job history in more detail than it appears they did in order to employ me. I am now employed with them and they have made an enquiry for a reference from a school I was employed at for a maternity contract in 2013 - looking for ‘dirt’ which they have been unable to find.

They have also searched into my pension history, so my main query is whether they are not allowed to do any of this, given he GDPR rules and without my consent?

My query to any of you is whether you know whether the employer is able to request your pension history without your knowledge.

    Many thanks
