Pension increases

    So, I think today’s news is saying that in 2019:

    The state pension will go up by average earnings 2.6% next year (I don’t get it yet) due to the triple lock.
    Teachers’ pension will go up by 2.4% (CPI)

    All September figures.

    Is that right? Is it fair? I guess it is if it’s more than most teachers will get on their pay.

    If you say so. Sounds right to me. It is fair. These are modest rises on modest sums and are designed to keep up with inflation. The alternative is to let increasingly aged pensioners slip behind and for some to become poor. That would not be fair.
