Pay Scale

Discussion in 'Trainee and student teachers' started by mikeliddle, May 16, 2011.

  1. Hi James
My first time post here, so I am unsure whether I would be answered...
I am a qualified overseas teacher (24 Years) and have been teaching unqualified in the UK for 2 years. I am presently completing my QTS. I am on M3 on the payscale at the moment.
Could you inform me what pay I would 'qualify' for after completion of my QTS (end of July 2011)?
    Thank you
  2. Hi Mike,

I can't answer your question I'm afraid, but welcome to the forum!

    Best wishes

If you are on the MPS scale then you progress up to the next point each year i.e September,if you have worked for 26 weeks in the previous school year.
  4. As stated, for each year where you work in 26 separate weeks you automatically qualify for an extra increment on the scale. That said, when yopu applyt for other posts you are free to try and negotiate extra points and you can jump points. It is also possible to do this in your current job perhaps as part of your performance review - you could broach the idea of progression or takiung onb responsibility for curriculum areas and jump some points.
