PAY DIFFERENCE-INNER LONDON AND FRINGE

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by poppymolly, Apr 22, 2012.

  1. I was hoping to start working closer to home, which would mean a huge drop in earnings. I am currently on UPS2 INNER LONDON, but to move closer to home would mean I would be on the FRINGE pay scale. It works out to be a £7000 difference!!!! That would mean losing hundreds of pouunds every month, which I cannot afford! My daughter is 18 months old and I want to be closer to her childminder and closer to her school when she starts.
Has anyone made this jump???? I'm thinking it might be best to wait another year, work on my finacnes and then make the jump?? Any advice???

The gap will be even bigger when we have Regional Pay.[IMG]

A couple of things to bear in

    1. 20% of that money, perhaps even more, you don't see anyway because of income tax, so you could think of it as a 5,500 reduction in take-home pay.

    2. Presumably your travel costs would drop rapidly too, so that would make a difference to your outgoings.

  5. very true, thanks very much xx
