Part time and induction time limit

Discussion in 'New teachers' started by anon2047, Jan 14, 2012.

  1. If you work part time, what happens about the induction time limit? I am trying to work out if I got a new position and worked 2 or 3 days a week if I could still pass. I only just started my first term after Christmas.

    Thanks

The 5 year limit doesn't change (The point is that you get it done within that time).
But really, even on a part time timetable it's still doable, since even a 1/3 timetable would take 3 years to do if you stayed at those hours.

  4. Thank you

To clarify there is no current limit on completing induction. The only restriction is the amount of non induction supply which is an initial 16 mnths from a first supply date-this can be extended by an LA for another 12 months.
Part time induction is pro rata so for example if you work a half timetable induction periods are doubled. The TDA website has an induction calculator to help work this out.

  6. Thank you for the clarification. I was thinking the 16 month limit for supply was the NQT induction limit and starting to panic!
    Thanks so much
