Parachute games

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by *Jasmine*, Nov 26, 2006.

  1. Have just compiled a list of parachute games. Tried to upload them on the resources bit but couldn't figure out how to do it!! Here's a great long bit of text instead then!!

    Parachute games

All change: all children given numbers/colours/animal names etc. Adult shouts out a number/animal: they have to change places before the parachute falls to the ground. Other children have to allow parachute to fall as opposed to pulling it down.

Cat and mouse: one person is chosen to be the cat, another the mouse. The mouse crawls underneath the parachute while children standing around the edge gently move the parachute up and down to disguise the mouse. The cat crawls on top of the parachute in an attempt to find the mouse.

Mushroom: everyone raises the parachute above their heads and then pulls it down and sits down on the edge of the chute with their bottoms.

Merry go round: walk around in a circle hopping/skipping/ jumping/running in one direction ? the parachute looks like a merry go round.

Snakes: four to six skipping ropes are put on the parachute: children have to shake the parachute in order to get the snakes off.

Para shuffle: pass the parachute round in a circle as if you are hauling a rope: the children have to work together to make sure that they are not pulling too fast etc.

Find a beanbag: put six beanbags under the parachute. Tell six children that they are to fetch a beanbag when you count to three: remaining children throw parachute up and pull down as a mushroom. Children have to retrieve the beanbag without getting caught in the mushroom

Bouncing balls: put three or four light footballs on the parachute. Three children underneath the parachute: the children underneath have to try and knock the balls off while the children around the edge of the parachute have to try and keep them on.
