Hi. I have just about to start a maternity cover in a school with a p5 class. One boy in class however is still on Yellow level books and uses book bug for reading. He is aware of most of the P1 common words but has not done any phonemes. I'm not sure what initial sounds he knows as have not met him yet. Could anyone help with ideas please about what assessments I should do with him and what I could do to help his overall Literacy. Not sure if school use IDL or whether he would be able to use it or not. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you
