P4C/ Thinking Skills/ Poetry help needed

Discussion in 'English' started by PETERPIPER, May 11, 2011.

  1. Hello everyone,

Does anyone use a P4C/ thinking skills approach in their English lessons? I've recently been taking an interest in this and want to learn more, so I'm booked onto the SAPERE course.

    My questions are:
    1) Can anyone recommend any poems that might work well with a thinking skills approach?I bought a book (Poems for Thinking) from Amazon but it turned out to be more primary level and I teach secondary.
    2) Do people find that the lessons go well and are interesting? Or is it like circle time, which in my last school consisted of kids messing around usually yet behaving well when the deputy head came in to model how to do it. Can a non-expert teach it without it going wrong?

    Thanks!

  2. I DID paragraph that, promise!
