Oxbridge admissions are 'intimidating and complex', says social mobility charity

    You can argue that Oxford and Cambridge are complex and challenging places to study and that they need to find out who can deal with that.The college based application process adds a layer of confusion, unless a college doesn't offer a course, it doesn't matter much which college you apply to.
    The admission tutor I know tries very hard to find the best candidates, and interviews a surprisingly large number of gormless candidates who can't solve GCSE level questions let alone questions of the calibre for consideration.

    "The spokeswoman [for Oxford] said the university was concerned that the Sutton Trust had based its recommendations on a series of assumptions that had "no evidence base".

    Nothing new there then.
