Overlay in Dyslexia assessment

    Good morning,

    Just a quick question, when doing a dyslexia assessment, should the child be allowed to use their coloured overlay?

    I'm struggling to find advice on the BDA or Patoss.

    Maybe yes if it was considered as a "normal way of working?". Let me know what you conclude!

    Yes, it makes no difference. Overlays can reduce some light sensitivity, but in the main are a placebo at best.

    If it was more significant, then it would be akin to someone wearing glasses, and we wouldn't ask them to take those off anyway.
