ordering basic stock in school - who does it in yours?

Discussion in 'Primary' started by supersaver, Jul 3, 2015.

  1. who orders basic stock in your school? we are now being asked to go and get the catalogue and find items in it and put details on order form, e.g. how many to order. we have 2 office staff for a 1 form entry primary school - surely they should order things? (biros, selotape etc)

That seems reasonable for you to be asked what you would like to request for next year and by writing it on the order form you know an office staff worker won't accidentally order the wrong thing. Presumably you have a certain budget and you have to work out the essentials, pens, paper etc and then the extra non-essentials. Only you can decide the priority of things- just remember things like pencils, whiteboard pens etc will need replacing over the year so make sure you order enough.

We put it on paper with page number, ref number and how many and office staff fills it in on line. We have to do this as the office staff would not know what we wanted. If we just wrote pens then they would buy the cheap rubbish ones.

    Ditto

We have a photocopied form on the wall in the office, anything individual teachers need they write the order code, price and number required on the form. Anything used on a regular basis( pencils, paper etc) is added as we run down. I do a more general order ( art paper, bits and pieces ) every now and again. Agree with Wotton, I've had too many **** whiteboard pens ordered just because they are cheaper!!
