Options evening activities for media - help!

    Hi all,

I'm an NQT with an English specialism but I'm also teaching AQA Media at the school. It's options evening tomorrow and I really want to show the students that Media can be great fun but also requires hard work and commitment. I will, of course, have some of my current students' work out on display but would love to have some interactive activities as well.

At the minute, the only idea I have is to have a camera angles station where students take photos in different camera angles and then tweet it using a hash tag so I can have a live feed of their photos on the board.

Does anybody have any ideas for activities?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Depends on your school's facilities but I always have one of the department cameras hooked up to the classroom IWB so students can play with a camera and there's a 'live feed' of what the camera sees up on the big screen.

You could also do something really simple like having slips of paper that students write down their favourite media text and why on to and then post these up into a media related shape like a big TV screen or something. I've done both of these with success in the past.
