Can anyone please confirm which year group onamatopoeia as a figurative device is introduced in? I had planned a lesson for Year 4 and suddenly thought that maybe it's for later on in year 5. I've trawled through the national curriculum documents and yearly objectives but haven't been able to locate it. Lesson is tomorrow! Any advice gratefully received. Thank you in advance.

Depends on the school. We introduce it in summer year 2 and revisit it in year 5, looking at the purpose and effect (along with other literary devices). It isn’t specifically mentioned in the national curriculum.

Thank you. I'm being observed so didn't want to end up looking like I don't know where things come in the yearly objectives! Appreciate your reply.
