Asking for a friend who is currently an unqualified TA at a local school. She should have been starting a level 2 course but the FE college have pulled the course due to low numbers. Can anyone recommend online or distance learning courses or are hey best avoided?

Any help or advice gratefully received.

    Thanks in advance.

Your friend could also given her local education authority a call and explain the situation - they might be able to offer suggestions - possibly the course is running in a neighbouring LA which she could join.

  5. Have a look at de Montfort college they do the following:

Course Title:- CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools(44 QCF Credits)

If you look on ucas it is listed there. You have to be in a placement for 50 hours during the duration of the course.

I did my level 3 supporting teaching and learning certificate with de Montfort college. The course content is comprehensive and there is tutor support if you need it. It is ofqual approved and is recognised by schools.

How long did it take you? I'm pondering signing up for this myself.

As I was working as a TA when doing the course it did take me 2 years but the college say it should take around 1 year. They allow you to extend the course for a fee each month if necessary. A colleague of mine is currently enrolled on the level 3 diploma course with de Montfort college and they have been happy with them too.
