Old QCA schemes of work - help!

Discussion in 'Music' started by nataliegoharriz, Jul 6, 2011.

  1. I'm panicking....I'm starting a new job in September and I'll be the only music teacher in the school. I currently teach 11-18 so am fine with that, but will also be teaching KS1 & 2. The principal of the school wants me to follow the QCA schemes of work, and I initially said that would be fine, as I didn't know the Dfes had REMOVED them from all internet existence!!!
I've had a thorough look on the internet, and on the archived website, but it's not help at all, because all the links to the different sections within each unit are dead, and go to a blank page. I've spoken to the QCDA who had no idea where the schemes of work had gone, and I've just come off the phone to the Dfes who were no help, saying I would have to fill out a form on the 'contact us' page to get any further help.
These valuable schemes of work seem to have vanished into cyber space. Does anyone have them saved on computer? If so, pleeeeeeease can I have copy? I'll be eternally grateful!!!

    TES has the answer [IMG]
Here are all of the KS1 Music docs:
    https://www.tes.co.uk/MyPublicProfile.aspx?uc=1659272&parametrics=primary,40069,41632
and here are the KS2 docs:
    https://www.tes.co.uk/MyPublicProfile.aspx?uc=1659272&parametrics=primary,42198,43788
You'll have to sort them as you download them as they are not in order I'm afraid, but all of the pages are here from the old site I believe.
There are published music schemes available, such as Music Express, that follow the QCDA schemes from KS1 upwards. But you may choose to look at the objectives, as a specialist, and teach these in your own way - probably/almost certainly - much more satisfying!

Don't forget the Sing Up site for resources for this age group too.

    Good luck!

Come back if you need any more help!

  5. Why have you been told to follow those? What's wrong with doing schemes you want to do?? There is loads of help out there and I can share stuff too if you want.
    Good luck!

  6. I had to teach foundation to key stage one year. I found the music express books in the cupboard and started to teach with these as the scheme which was great but I eventually dud as you said and just used them as a rough guide. You can sometimes loose site of the fact that music should be fun and bring them together singing and playing music rather than worrying about how can I teach the about ostinato. I have some resources if you are short.

I am looking for the old Art and Design QCA Schemes of Work. Does anybody know how to access them?
