OFSTED inspection on Tuesday - falling apart :-(

Discussion in 'Primary' started by nickyvangalis, Nov 4, 2011.

  1. Hello all,
I'm a y5/6 teacher, we just got the call that we have ofsted on Tuesday. We were scheduled to do mocks and year 5 autumn assessments next week so we only had two days of planning but I don't feel happy with it so I'm having to bring in my forward plans to do newspaper report based around James and the Giant Peach. I'm teaching them the skills around what the features of a newspaper are, what the content is, why certain language is used...but I'm struggling to find that 'pizazz' that could take it from good to outstanding. I am not a literacy specialist so if anyone has any lovely ideas that I can sprinkle in I would be AMAZINGLY grateful.
I feel like I'm falling apart under the pressure, it was everything in my arsenal to stop myself from crying in front of my class today, I get so terribly nervous when I'm observed and I do things I wouldn't usually do...
    xx

Just had OFSTED; keep it simple and keep it focussed. What do you want children to learn by end of lesson.

  4. Nothing useful to add, just wanted to sympathise and say SNAP!! We got the call today as well, they're in next Tuesday and Wednesday. Bang goes my weekend! Everything we were updating over the course of this half term now needs to be done NOW!
