Ofsted in SEBD school

Discussion in 'Special educational needs' started by Sianb78, Mar 7, 2012.

  1. HI,
I have recently started teaching in a primary SEBD school and am very anxious about the next Ofsted inspection which is due any day now. Does anyone know if they have a differnet criteria? The way I have to teach here is very differnet to how I would normally teach and I am worried that they will not be happy with what they see.
  2. I can't offer any specific reassurance other than to say as the Head of an Independent Small School which specialises in SEN we have always been sent an experienced Inspector with specialist knowledge of our area, Our guys don't stay still, F and Jeff a lot and lessons are optional and subject to massive change due to overwhelming apathy at times. We have received outstanding for our pastoral and good for our teaching. My gut feeling would be to say panic not, but others with more knowledge may know differently.

Hi: I work at a secondary PRU that was rated outstanding fairly recently - the students are as described above (but bigger). A close friend of mine very recently went through OFSTED at a secondary SEBD school, which also recieved an 'outstanding'. as sulla88bc said, the inspectors know what the score is. As a classroom teacher they are looking to see that there are effective systems in place to deal with behaviour etc., and that you use them. Hth - feel free to PM me if you'd like.
