  1. Help please. Any high schools inspected since January under the new regime-how long did the inspectors observe the lessons for? Were all the teachers watched for the same time? Thanks

  3. Lessons observed for between 15 and 45 minutes. Teachers offered feedback if observed for longer than 25 minutes. Those who were observed for less than 25 minutes not given feedback. In some schools joint feedback was given where team teaching was observed e.g. in SEN resource base. During feedback, teachers often asked about the quality of training, staff development and performance management.

  4. Thank you. This was the message that we have been getting but can never be sure that something diferent may have happened e.g. full lessons. From checking reports it seems as though not all teachers are being observed and nobody gets observed twice unless they are folowing a lead e.g. literacy

  5. Yes, that's right. Teachers may get seen more than once if a trail is being followed as you say but also if they teach more than one subject. In a secondary school with 3 inspectors, around 35 lessons will be seen. 4 inspectors and about 45 will be seen
