Is it normal to be rated a 4/Working towards after the first (Christmas tern)?

Bit concerned that it means I am behind.

Is this based on a single lesson observation or is it an overall placement grade? If the former I wouldn't be overly concerned, provided you don't feel like your lessons are typically like this - everyone has off days. If it's an overall placement grade then that does sound like a potential issue, but it depends on the reasons why you were given that grade. Who gave it to you and what did they say about it?
