Ofsted 2012 final versions of documents

Discussion in 'Headteachers' started by jgsearl, Dec 20, 2011.

  1. On 16th December, Ofsted released the final versions of the inspection framework and schedule for January 2012 onwards. They can be found at:
    http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/framework-for-school-inspection-january-2012
There are a number of changes to the draft versions, so they are worth downloading again.
For those who downloaded my checklist version of the evaluation schedule, a revised version based on the latest Ofsted documents can be found at:

    Many thanks for this.
Sound and supportive advice as always.

  4. Thanks for that. Very useful.
If the criteria for teaching is not for individual lessons, how will inspectors judge good or outstanding teaching?

  5. Ofsted issues zip files of "supplementary guidance and resources for inspectors", currently found here:
    http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/supplementary-guidance-and-resources-for-inspectors
Under teaching and learning, you will see the guidance to inspectors does not specifically set out what makes, satisfactory, good etc. I don't know, but I suspect this is a deliberate strategy to avoid teachers arguing with inspectors about grades. There is also the problem about elements of lessons that are hard to nail down in words. It is difficult to set down criteria that identify graduations in the buzz, energy, excitement, clarity, purpose and inspiration that the best lessons have!
I'm expecting a new set of zip files to be published to accompany the new framework and schedule. I'll keep a look out and let folk know when they appear.

    Hi jgsearl,
Do you have your SEF in Word at all? I'm having problems converting it.
    Many thanks

  7. The self-evaluation template can be downloaded in pdf & Word formats at: http://www.notasweknowit.co.uk/freeresources.htm

It looks like this doesn't want to link, so you may have to copy and paste it into your browser.
