Email or call the secretary and say you'd like to resign so that your school can get on with finding a new teacher, but - of course - cannot do so until you've had something in writing.

Don't stress yet, I am currently on a temp contract at my school and had another interview before half term to make me permanent, where they also employed another teacher at the same time. We were sent letters over half term and mine didn't turn up. I only found out in passing when talking to HR that a letter had gone out. Just give the school a ring and see what's happening. But all sorts of things go through your mind - I know they do mine. I remember turning up on my first day and thinking, what if they've made a mistake and they wanted someone else :-S.
