This morning I dropped my cats off at the cattery (going on holiday tomorrow!) and the owner was telling me about the latest Ofsted style inspections that catteries are now subject to. He was visited by a young 'inspector' who declared that their litter trays were too small. He subsequently measured them and found they were larger than the minimum recommended size. He's been running the cattery for 26 years and was obviously upset by the cattery's 'performance'. To add insult to injury, catteries are going to be star -rated. I'm sure he will be graded at least 'Catisfactory' (sorry - holiday mood kicking in!) if not 'Catstanding' (that's enough feline puns - Ed) So, it seems no-one can escape inept inspectors and I really hope he doesn't call it a day.

If they are awarded the lowest rating would it be a catastrophe?

They're always looking for someone to be purrsicute, ain't they?

I take it the highest grade really should be Purrfect!

I though of OfCat was your household status, in the style of the Handmaid's Tale.

As in 'OfFred'?! I suppose I do belong to my cats, so your assumption was correct!

Did the inspector apologise to the owner or had the cat got his tongue?

What's the betting that Ofcat has been created for Rees Moggie to be put in charge of?

Will they have equal opportunity hiring?

Did the owner reply, when told what to do: 'Me? (H)ow'? ;)

Or maybe the inspector was just kitten?
