Ok, never having been to a meet up before, how do we recognise each other?
Assuming there's the possibility ( however remote) that there is another group of tired, harrassed and overworked looking individuals ( plus a few , erm, more mature but relaxed looking ones) I might get confused over, do we all wear a white rose on our lapels, or perhaps a pencil tucked jauntily behind our ear so we can be easily identified. I don't want to walk into a pub and accost any odd looking individual , just in case!

    Of course!

I am just coordinating, not inviting! (... nor buying lunch for everyone!)

I booked a table for 13 and we may need to split into a couple of tables in numbers increase to 15. I won't change numbers arranged with the pub yet in case some can't make it.

Let me know if you are definite. :)

I'm going to park at Milton Park and Ride. Free parking and £3.00 return on the bus into Cambridge. I think the bus stops opposite Jesus College by Midsummer Common. Wander back up to Chesterton Road.

See you all at 1 p.m. next Wednesday.

Train ticket booked. And it was £1 less than when I looked before!

That is a discount because there is an Extension Rebellion activist superglued to the top of the train.

    And some trousers,

I'm coming by bike so trousers could be essential.

By the way - before anyone on the day accuses me of be a lightweight and or spoilsport I do not drink alcohol. I can't - I don't have the chemical in my body that converts alcohol to sugar so it basically just poisons me.

Other than that I can be quite annoying - you have been warned.

I also won't be drinking as I have the delights of driving along the M11.
  13. peakster

    peakster Star commenter

Shouldn't be too bad on a Wednesday - I go up and down the M11 all the time - it's much better than the M6.

Thanks for that @peakster - I know a lot of people who happily drive along it but I've had so many awful experiences on it that it has become my Nemesis motorway. Completely irrational, I know, and I must try to get over it!

What's the collective noun for a gathering of mildly eccentric teachers and ex-teachers then ?

An old and underused collective noun for teacher's is a 'quiz. More recently the terms 'faculty' and even 'professoriate' have been used.

With regard to the Cambridge meet, may I suggest a 'TESselation'?

I do hope I'm not going to be disappointed, I was hoping for more than mildly.

Mildly disappointed that I can't be there.

    Probably just as well.

    I wouldn't live up to your expectations!:D
