October Half term meet in Cambridge

Some interest has been expressed in an October meet in Cambridge during the half term break. Wednesday 23rd October at 1 or 2pm for lunch appears to be a good date and time.

The suggested venue is the Boathouse pub (the last Cambridge meet in 2007 or 2008 was held there).

The food good and the pub/restaurant scores 3.5 across the board on TripAdvisor.

October may be a little late in the year for eating outside but the garden adjoins the River Cam.

Ten things to do for free in Cambridge.

The Institute of Astronomy is open every Wednesday evening 7 - 9pm during the Winter season. Entrance is free. https://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/public/public_observing. @lanokia might enjoy that!

    Are there any takers?

Maybe. I’m nearer to Cambridge than London. Is it walking distance from the station?

Alas it would be 4 hours + each way on the train....so it wouldn't work for me am afraid.... much as I would like to see Cambridge.

According to Google maps it is 1.7 miles with a walking time of 36 minutes from the station to the pub. The walk is right through the city centre so you can take in other things on the way.

The bus (Citi 1 from the Railway Station stop 7) takes you to within 0.2 miles (3 minutes walking) of the pub.

I'm a possible but will have to confirm nearer the time. We usually go on holiday around that time. Haven't booked anything yet though.
