I am a NQT and the only member of the psychology department in my school so i have a question that no one seems to be able to answer.

The new specification OCR psychology A level, doesnt seem to say anywhere if the students need to be able to actually work out the maths of these statistical tests (Spearmans rho etc). My students seem to think they need to know the math and formulas but I cant seem to find anywhere that says this.
The spec says they need an understanding of the criteria for and use of parametric tests. I have yet to find an exam paper that makes them calculate the significant figure.

I hope someone can shed some light on this either way.

    Thank you in advance
    :)
