OCR Nationals Unit1 Safe working practices

Discussion in 'Computing and ICT' started by Melanie_Clark, Jun 27, 2011.

  1. Unit 1, task 1 in the French Trip scenario: does anyone have an exciting and engaging way of teaching this topic? At the moment our pupils are given a Word document and a Powerpoint prepared by the teachers and they are supposed to write up Task 1 from this...but a lot of copy and paste happens. Anyone got some bright ideas?

We get them to do a poster and a report on some of the areas - the report as they can do their backups folder naming and password protection easily. These then go towards teh document production later on - as long as the poster had different images on and uses some tools you tick a couple of AO boxes for the price of one!
Still not radically exciting but at least it gets a few boring bits over in one go and you can move onto the interesting units!!!

We have some audio files that the students listen to and some animations that one of our department put together that explain it all - no way they can copy and paste from that!
They then do it in two parts - firstly answering a series of questions that form a set of revision notes for them, then they turn this into a PowerPoint presentation aimed at new workers in their business. Both the revision notes and the presentation are submitted.
