    Hi

    I just
wanted to get some advice about an occupational health phone interview I have
    on Monday.

    I have
Diamond black fan anaemia which basically means I don't make red blood cells
and so I am transfused blood every 4 weeks. (Similar treatment to things like
sick cell and thalassemia). I have NEVER let this affect my life but I am now
worried that it is going to stop me from enrolling on my PGCE course in September.

    What
kinds of questions should I expect from the interview? Is there anything that
they are particularly looking for? Or things I should say to make them realise
that this won't affect my ability to teach.

    It is an extremely
rare condition and I doubt they will have any understanding of what it is (I’ve
yet to meet a doctor who knows what it is). So I’m hoping it will just be
explaining the condition but I’m a little nervous and just wanted to see if
anybody had any experience in this area

    thanks

  2. I got called about something I had put on my form and they were just looking to work out how that would affect my work, in particular if it had ever caused me to have days off. So if for example it's likely that your condition will mean you need regular time off work, that's what they will want to know. I'm sure it's just a formality and everything will fine.
    Good luck!

    Thanks for the reassurance

Unfortunately the hospital I will be moving to don’t open for
transfusions on a Saturday so I will have to miss 1 day at month which I’m
really angry about, my current hospital does them on Saturdays! I’m trying to
find somewhere else to have them but it’s not looking good [IMG]

  4. Oh dear that is annoying. That might also be difficult as you aren't really supposed to miss any days from your placement. Good luck with it all!

  5. I had a telephone interview and was given the ok, then a week later they phoned and said "actually we want a dr's report!" and I had 3 more weeks of worrying before they phoned me again and said it was all ok!
    Hope it all goes well
