NQT Science Resources

  1. Thought I'd start a thread for those who are going to be Science NQTs come September.
So, to start off, something to break your new Year 7 classes in gently and teach the basics of the lab (bearing in mind, 99% of them will never have been in one before!)

Hope this grows and you find it useful!

Please, please make sure you demonstrate something dead exciting, ideally involving a flame, in the first lesson as well as the necessary lectures about safety.

We spend all of year 6 telling children how fab science will be in secondary school and how they can do even more than we do in primary (which is quite a bit of practical in my school).

Please, please don't make them just do worksheets on safety in the first lesson...let them see something amazing as well. They don't need to actually DO anything if it scares you to let unknown children loose with bunsens (and it would me!) just let them see it.

    Please.
