NQT File

Discussion in 'NQTs and new teachers' started by stephanie_mapplebeck, Feb 2, 2011.

  1. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what I should be doing NQT wise?

I have a file with lesson observation records and LEA report records, as well as some meeting minutes and an activity file (meetings, courses etc).

    What else should I have?

    Would really appreciate some help!

You don't need an NQT file but its wise to have one should they start saying you're not meeting some of the standards. Keep one to cover all the core standards as you did in PGCE. Make sure you have evidence to support standards that can be used to fail you if 'your face doesn't fit' such as professional relationships with colleagues and taking feedback on board.
Don't let this panic you but always better to air on the side of caution. x

Do check with your mentor and also the LA for their guidance. It varies from school to school but you can also use the TDA supporting the induction process book which has questions which can be used for reflection. The general advice is that most evidence will occur naturally from day to day lesson planning teaching and assessment. There are a few standards however such as the legal requirements of teaching and pupil safeguarding which can be best covered through reading or courses.
