notice period and half term - help!

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by tarae1973, Feb 15, 2011.

  1. I'm currently on a maternity cover working weds, thurs, fri. I have to give a weeks notice. I have an interview tomorrow to start after half term. I'm really confused about the notice period, if i hand my notice in on Thurs then does that work out ok with half term next week? My current school have intimated to me that it doesn't. Any ideas?

It would depend what was agreed at the time of you having your contract issued. If you are with an agency then as 'supply' there should be no issue.

I once did a long-term sickness cover on a contract that stated a month's notice. I told the school 3 days before the end of the end of school in July that I wouldn't be returning in September and I used the entire month of August as my notice period, getting paid as usual for July and August.
