Not enjoying supply

Discussion in 'Supply teaching' started by aa88, Jan 27, 2012.

  1. I totally agree with your comment that your PGCE does not prepare you for supply teaching. I strongly feel that every PGCE course should include some guidance on supply teaching given how so many PGCE students will end up supply teaching. In my secondary course we had a teacher come in to give a talk on surviving your first year in a NQT post - all well and good but as 50% of the students ended up doing supply it would have been good to have a supply teacher come in and give a talk on surviving as a supply teacher. A little bit of advice would make the first few days supply less daunting.
