Non fiction genres ultimate list

Discussion in 'English' started by rolf33, Feb 24, 2011.

  1. In our school we are teaching a different genre of writing each day. I am concentrating on the non fiction and need to make sure I'm covering all possible genres for my Year 5 class.
I know there are basically 6 (recount, report, instructions, explanations, persuasion and discussion) but am getting lost in the subsections of this e.g. formal and informal letters, persuasive adverts/posters etc.
Does anyone have a definitive list which shows all options? Help!

  5. Definitely helps but still hoping for a all encompassing list if it's not wishful thinking?
