No mfl data in 2011 league tables...

Discussion in 'Modern foreign languages' started by Linguista, Jan 30, 2012.

  1. In the 2010 league tables there were two mfl columns: one about GCSE A*-C and another about shorter courses. The use of this was that you could see the correlation between mfl results and EBacc scores - i.e. some schools had low EBacc scores because of low mfl results whereas in others it was due to Geography or low Maths results, whatever. (I did the comparison tables for 7 North East LAs, they can be accessed from here: http://www.linguista.es/edudocs/ ) But the 2011 league tables say nothing about mfl as far as I can see. Does anyone know if this data is available somewhere else? Thank you.

I don't think it is. They have deliberately stripped out all the Mickey Mouse stuff like basket weaving and hairdressing in favour of real subjects. This means that MFL is lumped in the ebac stuff and therefore difficult to retrieve.

    It is here: http://www.education.gov.uk/performancetables/schools_10.shtml

Click on "key stage 4 results" and MFL has a column

Sorry, that was old. Here's the latest version:
